Sugarbush Retreat Day
Rejuvenate in spring as the maple forest comes out of dormancy
What's Involved?
If you’ve ever visited Heartwood, you’ll remember the stately maple forest that surrounds the cidery. Every season has its charm, but the transition from winter's dormancy to spring's emergence is one of our favourites: the maple sap is flowing, the sugar shack is cooking, and signs of life are everywhere. The Sugarbush Retreat Day offers a chance to step outside of the hustle of daily work and the uncertainties marking this moment in time. It's a time to reconnect with the simple wonders of a world that faithfully shows up each spring. Being on the land and connecting to the seasons is a balm for the soul. The retreat will offer participants a chance to wander the forest, reflecting on how dormancy and emergence appear in our own lives; we will prepare and eat a sugarbush lunch together, and explore these themes in conversation with each other. And of course, you'll get involved in the sticky work of collecting sap, boiling it over the fire, and bottling the finished maple syrup to take home. We hope you'll consider joining us for a soulful experience. We hope to spend most of the day outdoors, but our cozy yurt will provide a warm space for gathering if the weather is wet or chilly. ***For this retreat, we've implemented a sliding scale in the form of three ticket prices - choose the one that best matches your means.*** Retreat runs from 10am-2:30pm and includes hot and cold beverages and sugarbush lunch (we can accommodate most dietary restrictions).
